Kennels

As well as the heated recovery kennels in the prep room area we have four other main kennelling areas. The small pet kennels are also heated and allow pets such as rabbits, exotic pets, some small wildlife species, kittens and puppies to be kept quietly away from the main kennels block. 

The main kennel area is used for cats and small dogs. Cats benefit from Igloo beds and Feliway diffusers. All the kennels are modern stainless steel and easily cleaned. Larger dogs have the benefit of the dog runs, these are large kennels allowing plenty of space, but can be made snug with large orthopaedic beds and heat lamps as necessary.  The fourth kennel area is the isolation area, this has separate drainage and extractor fans to allow the nursing staff to isolate and barrier nurse anything known or suspected to be infectious.

The kennels allow for everything from boarding of recovering animals to the care of emergency and critical care patients. Our more critical patients benefit from drip pumps and syringe drivers for the safe administration of intravenous fluids and medicines. Kennel side equipment allows us to monitor patients’ vital signs in the same way as we do in theatre. Incubator area is available to give additional support; warmth, oxygen and humidity, to recovering small dogs, cats and other small pets. 24 hour nursing care ensures that critical patients can be monitored and treated whatever the time of day.
