MicrochippingIdenti-chips (micro-chips) can be used to identify all types of pets from Great Danes to tortoises. The chips are inserted under the skin, usually between the shoulder blades in most pets. It is a relatively painless procedure similar to an injection.
The chips contain a bar code that gives the pet a unique identification number. This is registered with a central, national organisation, allowing the pet to be traced to its owners wherever it is found (and to our Hospital if we placed the chip). It therefore prevents against loss and theft.
Identi-chips are a requirement of the PETS travel scheme before rabies vaccination. back to Pet Healthcare |
