practice history
After 10 years working in mixed practice (as a partner) Colin Cheetham decided to set up his own surgery. In 1985 Colin Cheetham’s Veterinary Centre opened it‘s doors.
The first year saw animals being treated in the garage of Colin’s North Newton home but business was soon successful enough to allow him to rent the building in Nether Stowey (where we still have our branch surgery).
The practice went from strength to strength, and within another year Colin had bought land in Bridgwater and a single-storey surgery was built. It was at this point that Colin was able to employ staff. Success was achieved very quickly and within four years the building was too small.
In 1995 all veterinary work was carried out in porta-cabins in the car park while the building was extended and a second storey was added. The practice gained ‘Hospital’ status and became Colin J Cheetham Veterinary Hospital.
In 1999 Liz Mullineaux, who had been working at the hospital as an assistant for five years, became a partner. The name was then changed and Quantock Veterinary Hospital was established.
Dominic Phillips joined as the third partner in 2006.
